After a long, challenging day, finding a bunch of Glenn Miller (and "Glenn Miller Orchestra," which is different) music on YouTube (the authentic Miller stuff is of course mostly just music over still photos), makes it all better.
Dammit, I just wish I had someone to dance with for "In the Mood."
And if it were the *right* person, also to dance with for "Moonlight Serenade."
Yes, I WAS born in 1969, why are you asking?

The first college I went to was very conservative and that was the majority of what was played at dances--I had to learn swing dancing to survive. You wouldn't have this problem, but being just over five feet tall just killed my shoulders by the end of the night.
(I'm a Sinatra fan. I hear "Three Coins in the Fountain" and think about smoochy-smoochy.)
GLENN.
MILLER.
ROCKS.
That is all.
Except to note that the only swing composition that even comes close to GM's version of "In the Mood" is his version of "American Patrol".
A good example for making every day count (and for trying to find a friend with whom to dance to "In the Mood," and perhaps a VERY good friend with whom to dance to "Moonlight Serenade"):
Since you were born in 1969, Ricki, Glenn Miller was just a year older than you are now when he disappeared forever.
I do love some Glenn Miller, but I'm equally fond of Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and Count Basie.
Just great music. I was happy when the swing revival hit in the mid-to-late 90s. I wish it had stuck around a bit longer though.
