Return from History

If you could bring back one person from history, and have them walk the Earth today and do their thing, who would you choose?

(I'm going to make one big giant exception here: Not Jesus Christ. Because, at least for believers, that's kind of the "obvious" one.)

I know who I'd bring back.

William of Ockham.

The guy who developed Ockham's Razor - that philosophical principle that basically says, "Explanations should not be needlessly complex"

Because I'd really like to see him kick the *sses of all the conspiracy theorists out there, and also hand a plateful of correction to people see calculated evil behind every choice some people make, even if those choices can be explainable by a benign reason, or can be chalked up to randomness or stupidity.

Where have you gone, William of Ockham? We need you now.

(If I were into such things? I'd make a little comic strip about Ockham-Man, the superhero who goes around busting the chops of people who promulgate conspiracy theories and who take in the simpleminded and make them believe things like heat doesn't melt steel.)

That's a real toughie, Ricki.

Teddy Roosevelt?
I would love to see his take on the state of things today. I'd almost like him to be zombie Teddy so he could eat the brains of his opposition. "I eat your ideology, but I can't stomach it!"

Alexander Hamilton?
For much the same reason as Teddy -- to see his take on things and fix our financial system. Though, he would probably wind up being taken down in a prostitute web bust.

C.S. Lewis?
Calm, rational, intellectual Christianity. Would love for him to be in the media today.

Not sure I can stop at one, but here's a short list:

Ben Franklin

Harry Truman

John Adams

Thomas Jefferson, who said the government that governs best governs least, just to see his reaction to today's Democratic Party which claims him as its founder.
